BORDER TERRIER CLUB OF THE SOUTHWEST

Formed over  20 years ago (then known as Border Terrier Fanciers of the West), the Border Terrier Club of Southern California is a large, active club with a history of balancing the needs of the breeder and conformation enthusiast, with those of performance and pet owners.   Like any club, it has undergone peaks and valleys in terms of membership and activity.  Currently, membership stands at nearly 60 households, covering much of southern California, as well as Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

In 1993, and again in 2002, BTCSC hosted the Border Terrier Club of America's National Specialty.  It was an honor to welcome fanciers from across the country to first Anaheim, and then Long Beach, to celebrate the diversity of this breed.  In addition to the National, the club has been hosting all -breed agility trials annually since 2000, and the trials are regarded as some of the finest in southern CA.  Co-sponsored earthdog trials, as well as earthdog training weekends, matches, grooming clinics, fun days and Canine Good Citizen tests round out our repertoire of fun events.

The club is home to many extremely successful breeders, some of the country's top agility competitors, and a score of Master Earthdogs.  BTCSC-member dogs are titled in every AKC sport that terriers are eligible for, and we even have a titled Herding Dog! Whether active in the sport of dogs or not, all members cherish the companionship of our remarkable and beloved Border Terriers.
